Anyone know how the music is coded in Uox3?
Our shard has heavy interest in lots of custom tracks. From my vantage-point (not being familiar with the c++ source or the client source), it would seem like a sweet idea to have a tracklist in the *.dfn (so uox3 knows how many midi tracks are available), and that way we can customize the shard with custom music.
The only hold-up I can think of, is if the call to the client to actually PLAY the midi file is the limitation, which would be too bad. Obviously the music.txt (I believe that's the name) client file would need to be customized to handle the extra music, as long as the client could play it.
Is this feasible? Allowing UOX3 to play more than the stock number of music files?
How does the music work?

Unfortunately this relies almost solely on the client - as all UOX3 does is send a message saying "play track number #", and I believe the client has a hardcoded amount of tracks.
AFAIK without modifying the client to support additional music tracks, your best bet is probably just to overwrite the existing files in the client with your own custom ones. Of course, you'd have to distribute those changes to your players as well.
