A few things I can't figure out...

Post by Redbeard »

Hello everyone, I'm having some problems when I try to interact with my world. I created a rogue to test my shard with and I had some issues right away:

1. I can't move/equip anything from my inventory.

2. My character was fatigued and carrying too much weight but only had
the starting items in his inventory.

3. The first time I logged into the world I chose Britain as my starting
point but ended up starting someplace that was 10 minutes away from
the town itself.

4. I remember in the retail version of UO i was able to collect kindling
from trees but I can't in this version.

Can anyone help me try to resolve these and any future issues I might have? I'm not the greatest at programming item associations or scripting...its frustrating trying to learn program mechanics when you're not sure if its really bugged or not.

Thanks,

1) Known bug; Normal player characters are unable to pickup items from their inventory/paperdoll. Fixed for next version.

2) Which character skills did you choose to start your character with, and which stats?

3) Alas, another known issue - what I suggest you do for now is create a teleporter (walled in?) from that area to for instance Britain.

4) Hm. I created a thief with stealing, snooping and hiding, and when I logged in I could double-click my dagger and target the trunk of a nearby tree to produce kindling. However, the kindling doesn't really work, so it's not of any use other than selling to NPC vendors at the moment :P

If you have any more issues, don't hesitate asking for help, that's what this forum is here for. =)

Hey Xuri,

Can you script the kindling to work for starting fires? I didn't try it yet myself, but that is a primary survival function in the game (need to cook food!)

I can do that =) I actually have a sketched out script for it already, just need to flesh it out and actually make it work. Should be functional to increase camping skill as well as work as a target for cooking, but I have no way of letting it log you out securely as of yet (I think).

I'll get right to it, after I've scripted the "pickpocket dips". ;)

I was just looking at the bug that wont let regular chr move items in their bags and paperdoll... lol I didnt even realize this until I read that. Just curious to when the next version will be avlible... And is there a site or someplace to use your scripts? (besides the script vault)

There's no other site, no. I will post some of the custom scripts I create in the Script Vault, while the ones I create for specific UOX3 functions - like training dummies, pickpocket dips, kindling etc - will be included in the default UOX3 downloads.

Check the bottom of the following thread for a test-version of UOX3 which includes a fix for the "normal players can't pick up items"-bug:
