I suppose it would be easiest to break up my question into several parts:
1.) Is there some way to modify the shoplist.dfn so that it contains intitial quantities and restock quantities there in the definintion file, as opposed to manually editing this after .add(ing) the NPC? Or are these things defined elsewhere?
2.) Aside from using InsideUO, is there some way of finding the IDs for various items?
3.) Beyond all hope, is there a 3rd party editor for setting up certain .dfn files ?
4.) Is there perhaps a time tested method for setting up NPCs or Vendors with custom features without having to manually edit them from within the game using the GM commands? (I use worldbuilder which has saved me tons of time!)

1) This is defined on the actual items themselves, by the use of a RESTOCK=# tag which is used by the shopkeepers to keep track of how many to restock of that particular item.
2) Yep, look them up in the DFNs if they're there
3) Hmm. We've had some editors over the years, but I'm not sure if there's an updated one around which works with the current DFNs.
4) Set up custom NPCs in a custom NPC-dfn, with custom shoppinglists that you define in a custom shoppinglist.dfn file
Just be sure to use unique [headers] for your NPCs and unique [SHOPLIST names] for your shopping lists.

1.) Ah, for some reason I didn't see that tag before, now I do!
2.) The CrimsonEditor you linked to in another post is a Godsend, tabbed AND it can run find and replace on all open files simultaneously! I'll never use notepad again!
Incidentally, is using gold for transactions hardcoded, or can you make it so that it will accept the copper and silver coins? As in multiple denominations.
(12 copper = 1 silver, 8 silver = 1 gold?)
Alternatively, would it be possible to set up certain vendors say in one city to use one kind of coin and vendors in another city to use another? With rates of exchange or something like that? Maybe a script or two I could write for bankers to change coin?

Care to share the link to crimson editor? I need to upgrade from notepad.
Also, does anyone know of a good scripting editor that dosen't require c++ or java to be installed? Something that can color code and keep track of parenthesis. I used to use the NWN script editor for UOx, but that was on my other computer.
