OMG It's Been A Long Time!

Post by Jediman »

Well HOWDY everyone!
Hi Xuri, long time no see :)

I have to say, after years of being away from UO, about two days ago I suddenly got this inkling to check up on UO and now I'm feeling like coming back to play....only thing is I don't want to shell out 12.99 a month (trying to save $ anyways), and would like to maybe do a shard again, but I've been away for so long.

As with any emulator I know that certain things are not supported right away, etc, so after poking around I have to wonder..

- How up to date is UOX3 these days? Seems like Oct of this year was the last bit of touched code?

- What clients does it support anymore..any of the newer ones or the classic (2d/3d)?

- UOGateway is dead?!? WHYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!?! (site is gone anyways)

- Whats going on these days?

Wow, hey Jedi :D Long time no see indeed! Where have you been, and what have you been up to?

To answer some of your questions:
-How up to date? Hm. Depends on your definition of up-to-date ;P It doesn't support any of the fancy-schmancy features like paladin/ninja-abilities, plant-growing, house-customizing etc. But what it does do, works. Generally ;) Things have been going very slow lately, yep. Guess we're all busy doing something or other (I r game designer! woo).

-If you stay at around the upper ends of the 5.0.x client versions (or very very early 6.0.x) you should be fine. 2D only, or the old-school 3D ones. No UO:KR support.

-UOGateway died, yep. I guess Fixit got tired of dealing with all the asshattery and abuse from the UOG users (can't blame him) and moved on to other stuff. Now you have to use either Razor (zippy's tool) or UO-RICE. Or ConnectUO if that's back up to date (*checks* Nope).

-Not much =P

Well howdy howdy howdy!

Yeah I've noticed UO: KR broke things lol.

I'm so tempted to spend 13 bucks to hop back into UO, but fighting the urge and instead setting UOX3 up...man it's like riding a bike, I never forgot how!

I've got the 2d and UO:KR clients installed just to play around.
Is Ilsh and Malas 3D only still these days?

Lets see..what I'm up to..

Well, got married 2 years ago, and in fact just celebrated my 2nd anniversary last tuesday. My wife's uncle also passed away on her bday (last monday), so last week was tough on the family.

Aside from that, no kids yet (I can't have them by natural means I found out :<), and uh..very much into lightsaber designing and building (I frequent forums.thecustomsabershop.com as ThreeQuadFive daily). Beyond that, I don't game much..married life has taken care of that lol. I work for a small business doing IT and customer support so I'm actually very happy with life :-D

Can't blame fixit for quitting. Man I yearn for the old days :-D
