Hi, I'm new to the whole thing, but I've been playing around with trying to get a small, private server going.
However, the documentaiton refers to a command called 'gmopen and they say it changed to 'openlayer
Does it still work the same? I can use the 'openlayer and target a vendor, which opens his backpack....but what are the actual layers to open... I tried 'openlayer 1a, to mimic the 'gmopen command, but to no avail...nothing happens.
I tried to look for the npc.scp file, but it appears it's changed to a group of files...seeming to be different regions, and the documentation stating how to manually change the buy and sell menu's have changed there as well.
If anybody can offer help on one, or preferably both ways to edit the vendors...it would be greatly appreciated.
Vendors? Little help

Try to put 0x in front of the layer you wish to open, like... 'OPENLAYER 0x1a, or 0x1b. Otherwise the documentation for setting price/value etc should be the same I think...
Also, to edit the NPCs directly, look in UOX3/DFNDATA/NPC/ folder, and edit either femalevendors.dfn or malevendors.dfn.
To edit the "shoplists" of the various vendors (all the vendors should have a shoplist defined in the malevendors.dfn/femalevendors.dfn file), open UOX3/DFNDATA/ITEMS/shoplist.dfn, which contains the data for which items are bought and sold.
The buy/sell-values of those items though, are defined in UOX3/DFNDATA/ITEMS/ - in whichever file holds the item in question.

I'm not too sure....it hangs on "Connecting to server" and sits there...2D goes in, no problem... I'm sure it's something with the client.. I have enough power to run it, 1Ghz, 700Megs ram and a radeon 9800pro...

Right now I'm using the latest version of UO Gateway. Didn't seem to matter what client I ran, whether it be Blackthornes Revenge, Age of Shadows, or Samurai Empire.
Unless there is somehitng I need to configure yet...I can't seem to find anything.

Ok, I'm finally on a roll...I've found out about the Vendor/layer thing, and the problem with UO3D starting was a Gateway issue, now fixed in the new release...
Last thing is the whole, no values showing up in the vendor listings...as well as it being blank upon first opening a buy list, until you scroll. Once that issue is fixed...things will be good.
I know of somebody else on the forums having the same problems...I believe it was Xuri...go figure
