setting skills

Post by Hunter »

HI :)

I successfully have set several skills as per Xuri's guide. I am having trouble setting others though. For instance when i type

'set animal lore 900

i get the targeting cursor and then when i target myself i get this message :

invalid set command ANIMAL

with the ANIMAL in caps. I also get this for item identification and others.

Have searched forums. Please advise.

Loving this BTW.

Update. Making two words one as in "set animallore" worked. But combining item with identification did not: 'itemidentification'.

Thanks in advance.

Ok,
I can tell by the silent treatment *wink* that you all wanted me to figure this out for myself. And ... I did! I found the section in Xuri's guide 2.28 on setting skills and stats. Actually I had read it before but it was the middle paragraph that had eluded me.

"To view a list of the available skills, and how you need to spell them when using them with the 'SET command, try 'SHOWSKILLS 0 and target a character."

I also must have typed ['set showskills 0] at least ten times. I have had a couple of programming classes but that was back when we were excited about Pentium III's coming out and couldn't believe they would be hitting 400 Mhz! Well, you get the idea.

Good news is if in the future someone has same problem they should get this thread if they search "Setting skills".
