Just wanted to say thank you

I was feeling nostalgic about UO (having originally subscribed when the game was barely a month old, and last subscribed during "Blackthorn's Revenge" sometime during 2002-2003). I tried a couple of your competitors' projects-- and found them sorely lacking, at least for what I was looking for. Their servers were buggy, poorly documented, arcane to set up and administer, and the associated worldfiles I found were not very close to the Britannia I remember. To add insult to injury, their devs were often hostile to newbie questions posted to their forums.

UOX3 was a breath of fresh air. It was easy to install & configure, and very well-documented. With the addition of Stranf's starter world, I had something approximating the Britannia I remember running on my shard in no time. Perhaps best of all, in all of the correspondence I have seen on your forums, you have been patient and courteous to everyone who posed a question.

I created an account today just so that I could say thank you. I'm sure that you probably don't hear that often enough for all the time and hard work you put into something that you give away for free. UOX3 was obviously a labor of love, and it shows.

Thanks and Welcome!

What is really sad is that real life is starting to get the better of most of us. Our small community was thriving a couple years ago with expierimental builds posted nearly weekly if not monthly. Lately the fire has died a bit, but it isn't completely extinquished! I think part of the problem(?) is that the world *is* stable and playable now! When I first joined, magic didn't even work and combat was pretty much broken.

Now I can run full on DMed (GMed?) quests with real users without missing hardly any features. Of course I have my wish list like we all do, but UOx3 is really enjoyable at the moment.

Sadly, I only get to play about once a month for 2-3 hours, let alone find time to script. :(. What UOx3 needs is a bit of fresh blood, like yourself, to learn DFN editing (easy), JS Scripting (Not too bad), or C++ (a bit more advanced).

There is still much to do, so enjoy UOx3 and help out where you can! Don't hesitate to ask questions or request features. They might get implemented, they may not. But if you don't ask, nothing happens.

I remember when I joined and I thought at times Giwo, Grimson, and Xuri were contemplating banning me as I was asking, asking, asking, asking, asking, but to my surprise they never complained and most of my suggestions were happily implemented.

In return, I offered my worldfile to Xuri, which I must admit only 1/3 of it was my own decorations, DFNs, and scripts, the rest being a compliation and/or modification of scripts and files done by others on this forum.

I'm glad it's of use to you!

That reminds me....
