Hi people. I'm loving the uox3 server with the commandline options. I've run into a few problems. I can't get usually two word skills to update (add more) like evaluating intelligence or even like imbuing? Does advskills even work? Also my house is transparent. I just see doors. Adding gold caps at like 65556. I can't say have like 9000000 gold. Also the server crashes a fair amount. Thanks for some input on these issues.

Hi Danno!

For setting skills using commands, try using the names listed in dfndata/skills/skills.dfn. For Evluating Intelligence the name is listed as NAME=EVALUATINGINTEL, so in-game you could do 'set evaluatingintel 1000 to set a skill of 100.0. Alternatively, you can use the 'tweak command and change the skills from there using the menu instead of typing the names.

There's currently a cap on item amounts at 65535, because that's the largest amount supported by the client, but it could be the process of setting amounts could be improved so that for instance if you try to set a number that's higher than that, it adds another pile for you automatically. The easiest way to do this for now is probably to first create one pile of 65535 gold, then use the command 'dupe 138 on that pile, which will duplicate the gold pile 138 times... for slightly more than 9 million gold

The transparent house issue I haven't seen before! Can I ask which client version/client tools you are using, and/or provide a screenshot that shows what you are looking at?

Any additional information you can give on the server crashes would also be appreciated - I've had the UOX3 test center up and running for hundreds of days straight without any crashes, so getting to the bottom of what's causing your issues there would be a high priority!

Thanks for the reply. I'll try what you suggested. The house problem seems to be with running the game in a window I think. Placing items in houses is a nightmare as well. I'll try to post a picture. And yes my game crashes a lot. I'm constantly losing stuff when it crashes. Is this supposed to run on xp or and older operating system? Thanks again.

UOX3's currently targeted to run on Windows 7 or newer (preferably 64-bit), or on Linux/macOS, I'm not sure if it will even run on XP any more

Can I ask what operating system you're using, and what UO client version you're using?

I'm running this on two machines. My desktop is running windows 10 and my gaming laptop is running windows 11. My laptop just crashed. I was hoping it would be more stable. I may try this on a older laptop that has windows 7 on it. I think a setting in uo3.ini maybe the problem or maybe an over tweaked character? Thanks.

Could you describe a bit more about what happens when it crashes? Are there any errors showing up, either in the UOX3 console or the logs folder? Does it just close to desktop with no message? Is there anything in particular you're doing when it crashes?

Without more details, there's not much I can do since I'm not experiencing any crashes here :/

Hi Xuri. I just checked all the logs. Nothing comes out as a specific error before the app crashes. It seems to crash when its saving the world when it says on screen. Again I think that uox3.ini or one or more of my maxed out settings maybe causing the crash. I going to run a stock ini and a more normal character. I'll let you know if this works.

Omg. I just reinstalled everything clean. Now I have no NPCs in the game?!? Hey if you need a bug finder, I'm your guy!

Assuming you have downloaded UOX3 0.99.5a (from downloads page) or compiled a newer version yourself (from github), a clean install will start you out with no NPCs (and no items), but you should be able to enable both item and NPC spawns via the admin welcome gump that pops up first time you login with your admin account. Alternatively, you can use the 'welcome command in+game to reopen this gump. For the default UOX3 download, spawns are only available for the Felucca facet for now, but an update for this is in the works.

You can also enable spawns for specific facets manually using a specific command. Syntax:
'enablespawns [facetname/facetnumber]

Example:
'enablespawns felucca

You can also decorate your world with a manual command instead of the admin welcome gump. Syntax:
'decorate load [facetname]

Example:
'decorate load felucca
