Interval for spawners

I drop a spawner, set mininterval to 666, set maxinterval to 65000, and I assume these intervals are in seconds. When I look in the world file, it's listed as --> Interval 154,232

What kind of conversion I am seeing here? In the world file, are those decimals, octals, hexidecimals? Anyone?

The spawner timers are in minute intervals, and not seconds. The assumption made, at some point in the distant past when the feature was implemented, was that the timers would not need the granularity that comes with seconds instead of minutes. Does your use case differ, i.e. do you have a great need for it to be in seconds rather than in minutes?

No, I don't need it in seconds at all, I'm quite happy to know it's in minutes. I do have some world file repairs to do as my spawners need an adjustment. I only used these crazy numbers so I could find them in the world file, but how did 666 turn into 154 and 65000 turn into 232? Oh wait, I bet there is a cap of 255 isn't there?

That seems to be the case! If that's a problem, and you need longer lasting timers than that, it can potentially be increased.

I thought it was in seconds so I assumed a max of FFFF (65535) because FF (255) would be a bit short for a maximum spawn period. BUT In minutes with a max of FF (255) is fine for all my uses. I will chalk up my unexpected worldfile numbers to be the result of me feeding bad numbers to the spawners.

I haven't had a server running since the days of Ryan and possibly pre-Ryan (1999-2001ish). Thanks for tuning it up for 20+ years, makes my life as a GM much more fun.

As always, Xuri, thank you for helping me figure out what I did wrong!
