I have been reading alot of the other forums, and I have been going over the files again and again. But I still can't seem to get anyone to join my server. I set up my uoxi file to [play server list]
{
SERVERLIST=Local Server,xxx.x.x.x,2593
SERVERLIST=Online Server,198.81.26.14,2593
} And had my friend set up her Uogateway with my Ip only without the X's. And we still can't get her to log in. So I thought i would talk to the professionals.

I can ping 198.81.26.14, so that IP seems to be okay. But if you're behind a router/external firewall, you might need to forward any connections to that ip or port 2593 to your internal LAN IP.
An example follows; I don't know how knowledgeable you are about this already, but I'll explain anyway just in case (and perhaps someone else having the same problem will find it useful):
At home, my router assigns all computers connected to it an automatic LAN IP. In my case, that is 192.168.1.33. That's my internal IP. My external IP (the IP of the router, actually) however starts with 216.x.x.x or some such, and that is the IP which anyone else will have use to connect to my server.
I've configured the router so that if it notices an incoming connection on port 2953, it will forward that connection to my internal LAN IP, which is 192.168.1.33. How exactly you configure the router to do that, is dependent on which router you have.

Well, a router is basically a small box with lots of flashing lights which your computer is connected to =) There's cables going into the router from your wall, and from the router to your computer
If you're not sure if you have one, ask someone who might know - like your parents (no idea how old you are) or whoever set up the internet connection in the first place.

Sure, unless your friend is on a LAN with you in the same house or whatnot. Then you need to use your LAN ip in [play server list], and your friend would have to connect to that IP as well.

We must have been typing those replys at the same time...Maybe I don't have a router. I use dial up, and I iam trying to get somone who uses another kind of connection. Does that matter? And I don't have anything with blinking lights except a printer when its out of ink. LOL. I noticed that my internet ip changes everytime I log in also. So i keep changing it in the uox.ini file. Also when I tell the friend to connect useing Msn messenger, the server doesn't receive anything.

In Control Panel click on Network + Internet Connections. Click on Windows Firewall. If you have the firewall on, click on the exceptions tag and add the port you want to open up.
I think that may be it. If you have a third party firewall you'll have to figure out how to open that port.

I looked and i don't have anything like that. Unless ad-aware has some kind of a setting that would keep them from connecting. Also I have Norton AntiVirus 2002 maybe that has something to do with it...? I have the Uox.ini file set up just like Xuri's example in another forum. And useing that I am able to connect just fine. The people that I want to connect to me set there uogateway with my ip address. And it tells them that Uo is not responding try again later. So I have no idea.

I just tried to ping my friend IP and it loses all 32 bytes it sends out...what does that mean? Would that have anything to do with why they can't join my shard. I know all of my stuff works. I can join just fine and have everything set up the way that has been shown to others with the same problem that I am having. Kinda late to get an awser from you guys who useally help with this stuff so I think Ill call it a night too. Hopefully you all or somone can give me an awnswer tomarrow. Peace and good night.

It's the middle of the day for me, so not late at all.
Alright, if you have dialup then you likely don't have a router, so the problem either exists with your friend - OR - you have a program on your computer which works like a firewall. For instance Norton; They have firewalls included in their antivirus software I _think_.
You could try shutting down the entire Norton application, then make your friend try connecting again while it's shut down. If it works, then you know Norton is what buggers things up. If not, then it's something else
By the way, which Windows version do you use? (Assuming you use Windows, that is. If not, what other type OS?)

Norton Personal Firewall has a green little icon of its own in your taskbar, so not noticing would be hard.
Also, it doesn’t just auto-block applications. Whenever an application connects to the internet or begins listening for connections, it will spew a popup asking if you want to block or allow it with a recommendation it makes up. However, if you choose “always block”, then that might be your problem… the pop-up won’t come back until you go in and screw with the settings.
Also, some versions of XP have a really stupid firewall setting that likes to randomly block servers.

Well to start off today Iam going to answer Xuri first. I checked to see if any of those firewalls were running, after first reading a few help files to figure out exactly what they do and what not. And I use windows xp. My norton specificly does not have the fire wall ability. Says it's not available in my version lol. So Iam not worried about that. But, now to address another thought Iam having. I have one person that I want to play with, and when I ping her Ip I don't get anything back. Now I also pinged another friend of mine and got all 32 bytes back, only they don't have Uo. LOL so they arnt going to get to play. If this other person had some kind of firewall up would that make a diffrence. Or if they used cable connection for the internet while I used dial up..? Maybe you would like to try and join Xuri LOL
