How do you rollback/load your datafiles?

Hi again, I just reset my computer and tried to login to my shard but soon realized all my work was erased. How do I load all the data files back the way they were before I reset?

How exactly were they erased? If you shutdown the UOX3 server before you reset your computer your work should have been saved.

If you only closed UOX3 by pressing the 'X' in the corner or reset your computer without shutting down UOX3 first, and UOX3 hadn't done an automatic worldsave first - whatever changes you had done would be erased.

Note that you can turn on automatic backups of worldfiles by changing BACKUPSENABLED=0 in UOX.INI to BACKUPSENABLED=1. By default it will then backup every 5th worldsave (editable by changing the BACKUPSAVERATIO value) into your UOX3\ARCHIVES folder.

Yes, I turned off the program by pressing the X in the corner then reset my computer. I know its saving automatically but when I logged into my shard after I reset I had to create a new account again and my world was wiped. I just want to know how I can recover my saved datafiles.

If the worldfiles are wiped there's little you can do If it were custom worldfiles, you're out of luck and will have to recreate them... and keep in mind BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP. And never close UOX3 by pressing the X in the corner

If it were the default worldfiles, just redownload them from the downloads page and unzip to the SHARED\ folder. You'll still have to recreate your characters though.

Note that if you're using the SPAWN.DFN file Grimson posted, all shopkeepers and monsters will be spawned anew each time you restart the server (they aren't saved, for performance reasons).
