A Couple of Questions

Post by Ravn »

I've just recently started using UOX3 V 0.98-30c ... I seem to be doing fine with everything with the exception of a couple of things:
I'm having the same teleport crash with new charectors that's in another thread....GM charecters don't crash...new charectors crash the server almost everytime...server crashes on a teleport and if there are too many NPC's spawned around the starting point.
How do you get npcs to spawn in the water?...when i add a spawner there, the spawned npc can't move anywhere.
Thanx

Ouch. The infamous "crash on teleport"-bug. I don't think we found a solution for that with the last guy who had it (the other thread you're refering to?). O_o What we need, I think, is for someone who actually experience that bug regulary to run UOX3 in debug mode and catch the bug in the act. :/

As for the "gold only"-loot, you can change that by applying BACKPACK=(item-id from items/*.dfn), or LOOT/LOOTLIST=(lootlist-id from dfndata/items/lootlists.dfn, not sure if it's LOOT or LOOTLIST) to the NPC sections in dfndata/npc/*.dfn.

Just a question...

Wouldn't that be PACKITEM= not BACKPACK= ?

Err oops sorry. That'd be correct :) By the way, what's the correct usage, LOOT= or LOOTLIST= ? (Or both?)

well, LOOT works for items directly, LOOTLIST works for a list of items.

Ah ok. Just found it a bit weird that LOOTLIST wasn't included in ssection.cpp along with the other DFN-tags.

Now that you mention it....

having looked, it looks like LOOT is the valid tag. The LOOTLIST is actually the header for the script section.

Thanx for all the help....I'm finally getting the hang of this :D

Now as to the teleport problem...The sever is also shutting down if i log a charector in at a location that has spawned NPC's etc.... in other words, if I log out with either a GM charector or a playing charector for instance in Britain, then log back in with it the server crashes...this is only when Britain is spawned...if Brittain is empty, i can log in and create charectors with no problem...what i have been doing is logging out in green acres (with GM's) and then saving the server...any ideas what's happening?

BTW i'm using the SE client, and uo gateway.
Thanx again
