Can anyone help a rookie
I've got my UOX3 working fine, and I've got my server info on UOGateway, but when I try to log in through UOGateway I get a message saying "There is some problem communicating with Origin. Please restart Ultima Online and try again." Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Thanks
Peace,
Law

The UOX3 server and the UO client are indeed on the same computer.
The IP I have set the UOGateway to connect to is 127.0.0.1 (the UOX3 server is set up as an offline server)
and my [play server list] looks like this:
[play server list]
{
SERVERLIST=Server Notorious,127.0.0.1,2593
}
Any help would be much appreciated
thanks,
Law

Then I dare say that you've either configured UOGateway wrong or your computer isn't set up to recognize 127.0.0.1 as a local ip - which would be very strange.
A quick walkthrough of how to configure UOG correctly:
Start UOG, click 'New local server', type in a random server name and description, use 127.0.0.1 as ip and 2593 as port. You want to 'Remove encryption' and choose 'No' for the Razor setting (for now). Save settings, and click on your shard in the shardlist.
Also be certain that UOX3 is actually running before you attempt to connect. After you run UOX3 there's supposed to remain an open window, the last line saying "Thread: NetworkPollConnection has started". Many make the mistake of thinking UOX3 is running while it has actually closed because of erroneous file paths or something like that. You wouldn't be the first, if that were the case.

Hi Xuri,
I'm running into a similar problem. I get the same "problem communicating with Origin" message when I try to log into either my "admin" account or my player account. I am running the latest version of UOGateway. My server and client are running on seperate computers. There is a firewall in place, but the appropriate ports are open. My playlist is:
[play server list]
{
SERVERLIST=Hyrule,trammel.servegame.com,2593
}
I have tried connecting with the no-ip setting as well as trying the current IP address with the same results. I am testing this on a T1 (if that helps to know). I had read in an earlier thread of a similar problem connecting after upgrading the client to the current patches(5.0.xx). So I tried unistalling/reinstalling the client and stopping the updates at version 4.0.01(patch
and I am still able to connect. In addition, I have tried to connect from two different computers (one here at work and my computer at home - still same error).
My apologies if I missed a relevant post concerning this kind of problem, I searched and found similar posts, but none that resolved my problem.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

When are you going to understand that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage.

Have you tried using the actual IP in your serverlist, then connecting to the no-ip address in UOGateway? Or the actual IP in both the serverlist and in UOGateway? I'm a bit unsure how the no-ip stuff works, haven't messed with that for years.
You're not by any chance behind a NAT router in addition to the firewall? If so you might have to forward any connections to port 2593 to your computer's network IP (random example: 192.168.1.2).

Hi Xuri, thanks for the quick response. I had tried both using no-ip and without with the same results. Now that you mention it, we are behind a NAT. That never even came to mind, I new that the UOX server was working fine, so I figured there was some kind of communication problem probably caused by the network. I don't have access to our router at the moment, but I am going to take the server home and try it on my dial-up (just love dial-up LOL). I'm betting that it will work just fine then.
Thanks again for your help Xuri - really appreciate it!

Hey Xuri,
Just wanted to update you on the issue that I had getting connected to my server. Just as you suspected, the connection problem at work was a NAT issue. I took the server home and hooked it up and ran it via dial-up and it worked perfectly!
Thanks again so much for your help!
Chris
