Magic Weapons to Loot

Post by The Drizzle »

So now that Stranf has really got a foothold of introducing magic weapons into the game, can anyone explain to me how to introduce these weapons/armor/items into drops from monsters or treasure chests? I know there's a .dfn that involves loot, but I can't figure it out, and I'm completely clueless on how to link to the magic items, especially since they're run of the same id tag. Does anyone have any ideas?

Create a new list entry in lootlists.dfn. Put all the weapons, you want as loot, in it using their id (the name inside the "[]" brackets is the actual ID used by UOX3). Then add a LOOT=listname tag to the NPCs you want to have something from that list as loot. Quite simple.

Edit:
Also take in mind that UOX3 won't add all items in the lootlist to the NPC, it takes randomly on of the items. So if you want more than one item as loot at more than one LOOT=listname tags.

Edit2:
You may also want to use the latest experimental build as the current stable build looks in the wrong place for the lootlists.

Or you can use PACKITEM=# to add specific items to their backpacks, where # is the sectionheader for an item from the DFNs.
