Hey Xuri!
I been trying to find some answers to this.. what was the purpose of the new *UOP file format?
And that leads me to a couple/few other questions..;
Where does that leave us few shard builders that have custom maps?? Is there any way to plant an exsisting custom map.MUL onto a *uop file? Id like to keep up with uo's expansions, but without this little piece of the puzzle, it seems we are stuck with clients under 7.0.24?
WHERES PUNT?!?!?!?! PUUUUUUUUNT!!!!!!!
but seriously.. is there any remedy to this? is the *uop format so different?
oh and, hello from ryandor.com!
Another UOP file question

Hey Dian!
I'm not sure what the purpose of the new uop file formats were, other than creating a ton of head-aches for shards with custom maps ;P I don't know much about the details, but I know that it's kind of a "wrapper" format, and that the data from the classic .mul files is contained within (but maybe organized differently). I also know that in theory it's possible to convert from one format to the other (as done here over on RUOSI), but I'm not sure if any programs to do so have been released publicly.
Unless such a program is released, or a map-editor is made that can read/write directly using the uop wrapper format, it seems to me that anyone who wants a custom map are indeed stuck with clients below 7.0.24.

Hi Xuri,
Kind of embarrassing to have not responded after your reply in such a long time. Life was hectic at time of that post I made, and by time I got back around to work on the Ultima stuff again, I had forgot all about having come here and posted this question!
There is a new UOP converter on the tool UO Fiddler if you had not heard of it. It works terrific so far in my trials.
Also, Ryandor had sent you a PM, and I would also like to invite you over to the new site at PlayUO if you get a chance
I would like to discuss a couple things with you as well, even though I am sure you may not do much with Ultima these days.
Thanks,
your old friend..
