Animation Offset ??

Post by Celtic »

Hey everyone,

I am new to UOX3 and I was wondering...

How exactly do you calculate the coordinates of an equiped item in relation to your character?

I mean like, if your character has chainmail leggings equipped, how does UOX3 calculate the coordinates at which to draw the chainmail leggings, in relation to the character frame?

Hope I explained my self well enough!!

Thanks in advance

We actually don't do those calculations serverside, they are done by the OSI client.

If you check out InsideUO, you can see the animations for pretty much every piece of armor, so it looks like they just layer those over the drawing of a player at coordinates x,y,z when playing animations.

I have looked at inside UO a whole pile, but I still can't work it out...

Cause if you take an equipable item like a bandana, and manually place it and then take those same offsets, and apply it to something like a chain coif, it isn't placed correctly.

So they must use some sort of algorithm to calculate this.. And I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this ?
