Another Town Hall meeting has just taken place .. in.. New York? And a lot of new (though small) videos are out:

Tidbits from the meeting:
-Backpack can be sorted in three ways: Old style, slotted (think diablo) and a scrolling menu with every item on it's own line.
-It'll be possible to scroll way out, to get an "overhead view" of stuff. But the updaterange will probably stay the same, or close.
-Skinnable interface/backpacks?
-Toggleable targeting system, can switch between targets at keypress (think Tab in WoW?).
-Have to press enter to start chatting =P Possibly chatwindow for guild/party/friends chat.

For chatting, do you mean like Guild/Party member chat?
Why in the world would you have a big smiley for push enter to chat?
When I type, that is what I want to say. I don't want to push "enter" to tell UO that what I am going to type is what I want to say...
think : redunantly extra keystrokes.
If you have to "push" enter to intiate a "normal" conversation then I sure as hades hope they have an "old-style" option.

You refering to this? =Pstranf wrote:Why in the world would you have a big smiley for push enter to chat?
Hm from my perspective that doesn't really look like a "happy smiley". I'm not happy with it either, though I've heard it mentioned that they would indeed try to have an "old-style" option as well.

Phew!
It sounds like something small, but as a DM in NWN (which uses the ENTER to start ENTER to finish style), you actually lose more time than you think when typing commands/text for your NPCs.
Since UOx3 has commands that allow GMs to essentially be the DM equivelant of NWN, it would "slow" GM quests down considerably to have a Enter-on-Enter-off text. But I guess this style appeals to the "later" generation of MMORPG crowds. As long as they have both options, then I think it is a good thing.
Conforming to what works in NWN, or WOW, is not neccisarily always a good thing.
I can't wait to see the Youtube clips! (My high speed blocks youtube at school, and my dialup is too slow at home) so it may take a few weeks. I'm still looking forward to this client.

Interesting tidbit from an interview with Aaron Cohen, the producer for KR:
"All the new art is drawn to a native 1280 X 800 instead of 800 X 600. The monster models are built with 10,000 to 20,000 polygons, animated out into about 2,500 frames, and then rendered out into a single polygon that plays on a 2D billboard in game. We’ve had to re-draw about 16,000 pieces of environment art. The UO world is about 11.5 million tiles, all being hand touched and polished by our team of world builders."

I'm interested to see how this client will interact with Uox3.
The current 3D client will kick me off about every 2 minutes (if I'm lucky). I guess Uox3 and the 3D client don't share rescources very well and so Uox3 decided to drop me in order to free up those rescources.
I don't worry about it much because I prefer the 2d client. KR looks really nice, I'm wondering if I"m going to have to have a dedicated server now to run UOx3 in order to enjoy the new client.

Interesting, I never thought of that. Notice in the screenshot with the white-polar bear rug. The 2d client shows a city road with cobblestones surrounded by dirt. The new KR client shows trees sprouting in the middle of the town!? (I wonder if they were added just to show the 3d tree art?)One thing I'm worried about, is the fact that I can't see dirt roads in their new screenshots..
I'm going to be sad if my UO towns are now grassy fields or forest mazes with buildings in between.
What we really need to see is a road through a forest, maybe at some random guardpost. That way we can see a stone structure, green grass (around the building), dirt road, and forest. All in one screenshot enviroment.
The current "roads" do blend in too well. If I were colorblind with green, I would be in big trouble.
