Hello, it's-a me, Puck

I sort of tried to keep my posts to the technical stuff, but after a few days I realize, I wont just blend into the heavy traffic of users, it's more like you can hear a pin drop in here. Feels a bit like being late to church - and wearing squeaky shoes.
Properly saying hello in such a case seems like the polite thing to do:
So, hello, everybody. It's me, Puck. My native language is german. I sort of live the life of a tiny forest animal: in the summer I spend as much time bein outside, moving, skinning my knees as if I was little. In the winter I go hibernate in front of ye olde CRT screen. (LCD just doesn't give you any proper skin tone)
This hibernation led me to UOX3. Last weekend a friend of mine and I were about to play the UO trial, one thing lead to another and I was already trying to read up on UO server emulation. I looked at RunUO, SunUO, Penultima and not very seriously at sphere. Mind you, I knew nothing, zero, zilch, nada, but that UO server emulation has a pretty long history. That's it. (Not that I know _that_ much more now...)
I can't quite put my finger on it, but UOX has a certain feel to it, I wouldnt want to trade it for any other. Apart from being (at least it looks like this from over here) well structured and comparatively easy to understand, it just has a certain charme. I mean, sure I can take some complete RunUO distro, doubleclick the exe, and more or less be done with it... but it just feels dirty. The kind of dirty that doesn't go away, no matter how hard you scrub.
don't get me wrong, I admire what people have done, no matter with what emulator. It's easy to forget how much work the tiniest bit of code sometimes can be. Especially when you just look at it from the user perspective.
(Personally I'm rather glad I stopped coding as a 10year old. I was pretty good wth AmigaBASIC
)
Alright, I'm starting to ramble (more than in the beginning) and it's getting late for work, so I'll wrap this up quickly:
Thanks for this great project. I love how UOX turned out. Later, when I get the time I have to post about it on my favourite indie-game forum, bay12. I figure this might even get some fresh blood in here, and who knows, some of them folks can code better than
which is about my skill level. Oh wait, I can do proper IF - THEN thingies in BASIC, too
I just fear that you people from here stumble over the most famour b12 game, dwarf fortress. We can't divert your attention from uox, now can we
Laterz, folks, thanks for my new winter hobby.
(Altough I feel a little tempted to curse you for my lack of sleep the last few days)
PS: Gratz, jediman. May the force be with you
