This thread gives quite a bit of detail concerning OSI/EA's plans for a revamped combat/magic system in UO.

Quite the interesting read.

I'll have a squiz at it later, sounds interesting, I'm off to physio atm. I think combat needs a look at, I'll throw some ideas I've been thinking of down on paper for you guys to look at. At a minimum, should help with the enemies killing enemies thing :)

Wow. I read a few of the posts.

Let's just say I'm happy I'm on UOx3.

Don't have to worry about hackers, bots, cheaters, etc.
The balance between PvP means little to me. (Although I wouldn't mind combat being modeled more simply like someone mentioned...similar to D&D: d20 + modifiers...easy to work with..)

And I don't have to spend HOURS and HOURS selling dresses and bows to make money.

The days of lumberjacking for 5 hours straight are over thanks to UOx3.
