Dungeons and Region.dfn

Post by stranf »

Anyone like to give me a quick tutorial on how to customize dungeons? I assume this is through regions.dfn (haven't had time to check, I'm at work)

But is there away you can set aside a region for the dungeon so when the PC enters, it will be "torch lit only" light level, custom midi file, etc.

Dungeons in the default scheme, at least the regions.dfn I'm using, has the same lighting that the world does. IE: it increaseses and decreases depending on time of day.

Thanks.

The .ini has a setting for a dungeon light level, set this to a level you like. Then just make shure the entry in regions.dfn has the "DUNGEON=1" tag (which should already be there on an up to date regions.dfn).

You can also set up custom weather regions in dfndata/weather/weatherab.dfn with specific lighting conditions (and no weather :) which you then assign to a specific region in regions.dfn using the ABWEATH=# tag.

Another example of what you can do with the weather/regions-stuff: If you wanted to, you could divide your world into "timezones" and setup individual lighting conditions for each one =P

Wow.

I have a custom Weatherab for each town using an older regions.dfn. Not sure the last time I updated that.

So each town has custom weather.

The problem with regions.dfn is I'm not sure which region is "northern britannia" or "southern brittania" or the eastern "desert britannia" so I haven't been able to do custom weather for the wilderness areas.

Has anyone else done so?

I'm going to post my weather settings soon.
