3-d client connection lost verification

Post by stranf »

On my shard if we use the 3d client we frequently lose connection.

I'm running UOx3 and my UO from the same drive (fat32), and my friends log in through my dial-up modem (generally 49.2kbs, but I doubt most of that is free bandwidth)

I lose connection a lot, even though I am on the same machine. I wonder if UOx3 and the 3d client compete for rescources and UOx3 kicks UO off.

2d client sometimes has issues, but for the most part is fine. (I tend to get disconnected ocasionally if a worldsave lasts around 30 seconds.)

This could be hard to debug, so I just want to know if anyone has similar issues.

I've never had the issue myself, but I can certainly guarantee that UOX3 and the 3D client will compete for resources.

I think there's a setting in UOGateway to reduce the CPU usage by the client.

Might have to check it out. Never done much of UOgateway. I use UOrice....I'm kind of a "make it simple" person.

It's not a big deal to me at the moment. I'm not a fan of the PC models and funny trees..but it seems that lately OSI is doing a good job of fixing the quirks. eventually the 3d model could be something I'd like.

I've noticed issues in the past when using UOrice instead of UOGateway (or Razor, as that uses UOGateway's dll). Try switching to UOGateway for a spell and see if you keep getting the same results while using the 3D client.
