Global Messenging

Post by Kiff »

This may be a silly question , but is there an easy way to globally message all players? I tried everything I could think of... and I checked the comprehensive list of commands (they have announce's for admins, gms's and counsellors, but not players) and I am unable to figure it out. Any guesses?

As a GM, use the "yell" speech feature by prefixing your text with a ! and a space =)

Oh, and you can also use Console Broadcast, which will broadcast a specified system message to all connected players. Access it by pressing * and Y in the UOX3 console, then enter the text to be broadcasted.

Notably 'yell or 'gy (yell to gm's or above) 'cy (yell to counsellors or above) should also work

Alas, all of these things I have tried. On all of the version's I've used thus far (I'll admit I'm not up on the latest CVS, but I am on the latest current build) the 'yell is an unrecognized command and ! Space doesn't work. No matter what you type, the broadcast message is "ENU" ...the only exception is the word "test" which shows up above your head. Don't ask me why...it's odd I know. The players confirm that "ENU" is what they see :p

The console "y" does work, so that will be good enough I think, but the other one should probably be looked at.

Seems like it sends the language string instead of the text.

This issue is fixed for the next release.

Note those commands are 'yellall 'gmyell 'cnsyell and 'adminyell not what I previously thought. I am changing 'yellall to 'yell in the next release, however.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Someone should probably put the 'yell into the list of available commands as well :)

Using "! + space + text" way of yelling shows the text as normal message above the players head if it contains a trigger word. Is this intended or a bug?
