A player has no way of telling if he/she is a criminal, since their name will always highlight in yellow when they click/mouseover their character - although it does seem that their name will highlight grey to themselves immediately after becoming a criminal, it will start highlighting yellow again only seconds later.

How does OSI display a player as being a criminal?
In my day their name was gray.

On yourself:
Criminal = grey
murderer = red
if guilded & non-criminal = green
if guilded & murderer = red
if guilded & criminal = grey
if unguilded and not criminal and not murderer = blue

Yellow should only be used ONLY on invulnerable creatures/NPCs/players...
Not invul? take a pick from your color chart above
