Appetite for Construction

Hey Xuri,

Your work on house stuff got me thinking about how Skyrim does that:

Code: Select all

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Build_Your_Own_Home
Instead of houses appearing instantly, you could have a build system similar to that.

Maybe NPCs workers bring the materials to the site and work on the house and you have the option of defending against any beasts that would attack the workers. NPCs fighting the beasts could slow down the building process, you could hire guards maybe to help with that, etc.
(Note to self, don't build house close to dungeons entrance)

You could build yourself a whole Paradise City or something..

Thanks!

Interesting idea! You could maybe make this happen by setting up house multis in various stages of completeness using house foundation multis + various items like wooden posts, piles of planks/bricks etc as immovable house items.

Then (after my house changes are done) you attach a JavaScript directly to the house where player can donate building materials, hire workers, etc. Once a new stage is reached, swap out the house with another one via said JS, until house reaches final stage - then you apply the proper house script (applied to all houses to handle house commands).

Examples:

house_stage_2.JPG
house_stage_3.JPG
