I assume you can sign up for a free trial, and from there somehow buy a full account, if you want?

I don't really want to buy, I want to setup a UOX3 server at home for me kids. Will the free trial version work with UOX3 server without expiring?

Yep. Though you shouldn't patch the client beyond 6.0.14.0 as it will then stop working with UOX3.

I've been meaning to ask:
I have everything here to be able to decide which version I want from 4.0.11c up to 5.0.9.1. Yay, lucky me. I really don't want to patch beyond that, btw.

Any particular version I should prefer for any particular reason?

If you're happy with your current client version, I can think of no particular reason why you should change. It's also important to keep in mind that server-side bugs don't get automagically fixed because you update your client version - though both very old or very recent clients can (I imagine, I don't know for certain) cause issues if it does things differently from what UOX3 expects.

Oh, and the free download from the official pages is now version 7.0.3.0. :/ Which won't work.

I just wondered if any version was more buggy than the others.

For instance, after I patched 4.011c up to 5.0.9.1. I noticed that my mining skill didnt increase. The lil arrow was pointing up, tho. I locked the skill, and unlocked it again, and suddenly mining was rising again.

I recall somehting from the back of my head that this was an ancient UO bug, but it's been too long, really. Especially since I never played UO a lot.

I'm not to sure about the 4.x clients, but the 5.x clients should do quite well.
