Invalid tile access, the offending tile number is...a beard?

Post by Puck »

3D client 5091 - UO_riced
uox3 98.0.4d (and 4e)
with and without razor

This is pretty vague, so no proper bugreport, but I didnt know what else to do with it:

today we had a pretty lengthy session. I don't know, almost unhealthy 10 hours or so. Not a single crash, everything went smooth... ish... (apart from us autoattacking through 30 feet of rock, some weird issues with skills and attributes, a log that didnt want to get turned into a shaft and a lizard guy getting stuck in the wall)

1)warning log:

Code: Select all

[January 30 07:03:08 AM] Invalid tile access, the offending tile number is 65535
[January 30 07:34:05 AM] Invalid tile access, the offending tile number is 65535
It popped up at the end of the session. Maybe I can pin that one down a bit more, later.

2)error log:

Code: Select all

[January 29 11:24:46 PM] JS script failure: Script Number (4004) Message (ReferenceError: pSock is not defined)
[January 29 11:24:46 PM] Filename: ./js/skill/tailoring.js
| Line Number: 31
[January 29 11:24:46 PM] Erroneous Line: (null)
| Token Ptr: (null)
Sadly, I noticed it WAY to late and it's hard to relate to anything. Any advice, ideas, pointers? I looked at tailoring.js, but I can't make much of it, will be some time till I can read that properly.

Not sure what the warning message is about, sounds like UOX3 tried to lookup an invalid map-ID or some such. Hard to tell what could have caused it, unless you manage to reproduce it somehow.

The second one, the tailoring error, has already been fixed on the CVS but isn't included in the default download - and apparently I forgot to include it in the version I sent you as well. The error occurs when you try to cut bolts of cloth into cut cloth.

To fix it on your own, open JS/SKILL/tailoring.js in a text-editor, and locate the following line:

Code: Select all

			CreateBlankItem( pSock, pUser, 50, "#", 0x1766, 0, "ITEM", true );
and replace it with

Code: Select all

			CreateBlankItem( [color=red]socket, mChar[/color], 50, "#", 0x1766, 0, "ITEM", true );

Heh, thanks again :)

The invalid tile access seems to have something to do with the beard of a certain character. After killing the beard, the warning messages dissappeared, at least. I packed up the shared folder, for convenience I added an account folder (user:beard, pass:face) with admin privileges for the affected character and uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2nlnywytogv
You may notice the character doesn't actually have a visible beard. However, he did select one upon character creation. Right now I don't know which one, but will try to find out. The beard went missing sometime in the last 20 hours of play :/

To reproduce the warning message, just log in, and open the paperdoll. watch the console. close and open the paperdoll (edit: actually, just hammering "paperdoll" button does the trick, too) at your leisure for more pretty blue lines. 'kill beard, try again. I plugged it into 4.0c as well as 4.0d with the same results.

PS: the packhorse with the funny name isnt mine, i swear!
