Newbie help, save my sanity.

First off, thank you for this amazing program and all the work you put into it. With that said, I'm about to pull my hair out.

I am totally new to Ultima Online so much of this foreign to me, but I am determined. After much trial and error here is where I stand.

I downloaded a compatible client from the thread "UO client versions/expansions and compatibility with UOX3" I downloaded UO:HS client 7.0.24.0 I installed and let it run through the patching process.

I then followed the UOX3 Installation guide located on the main page. When I run UOX3 It doesn't find a single .Mul file. I have been on ruosi site but only find the files for 7.0.25.7 and it has been said the converter has been taken down.

I assume my problem is my lack of proper .Mul files. I can not seem to find the proper ones for my client version. I Tried using the ones supplied on Ruosi site for 7.0.25.7 but this did not resolve my problem.

Thank you in advance for the help. I know answering these newbie questions gets old. Believe me, I researched on my own before I come here to bother you guys but I have no luck.


Since I initialy made this post I Have tried several other clients, renaming files to match what uox3 is looking for as well as a bunch of other useless, hopeless things. Please advise. Thank you.

Hm. If your client has the map#LegacyMUL.uop files and you haven't patched it above 7.0.24, that should have worked - assuming you're using UOX3 0.99.2b.

Does it not find any mul files at all, or only map files? If all are missing, it suggests it's not finding the UO folder (set in DATADIRECTORY path in UOX.INI). Make sure there's a trailing slash / after your path.

I realized an error I made when listing the UO directory, apparently "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Classic" is not nearly as effective as C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Classic\"

Most of the files have been found, though several have not been found, specifically those named mapdif's. Is this a problem, if so please advise on remedy.

thank you Xuri. The slash made all the difference. Though some files were not found as I mentioned above. Is this critical or can I continue the set up guide as I did reach the startup complete, checkconsolethread has started.

I seem to have it working though I suspect I may run into problems with the missing files I mentioned above. But I'm persistent and greatfull. Is there a way I can donate a few dollars? Very greatfull for this program as well as the informative guides even though I seem to have problems following them lol.

Whether you'll run into a problem based on the missing files depends on which files are missing. Not all are required.
