Boards

Post by Kiff »

When making boards, if you try to make more than one, the old one disappears and the new one is placed in your pack.

This doesn't happen if the resources are on the ground however...then it works.

Verified. This probably happens because it looks for a "wood" resource in the user's backpack when attempting to make the board, finds the already existing board, then uses that as crafting resource instead of the logs the user targeted in the first place :P

A "fix" is to move the log-IDs to the top of the [RESOURCE WOOD]-list in uox3\dfndata\create\resources.dfn.

However, I've discovered another bug related to this - if you have 1 board in your backpack - you can practice carpentry on it for as long as you gain skill from creating boards... you can use the board as resource (if you have no logs in your backpack), and create a new board from that, over and over and over again :P

hehehe. Hey, dosen't that simulate "polishing and sanding" the board?

Can carpentry be exploited to use that craft until you hit GM status? Or is carpentry like cooking and fighting, as soon as you hit, say 20 points, you won't advance further until you try to craft a more difficult object?

[ITEM 72] in carpentry.dfn has SKILL=11 0 500, which means that you'll need at least 0 to be able to start attempting to make that item, and you will not gain any skillpoints from it after 50.0.

Fixed, I simply added a new resource entry to create/resources.dfn called LOGS and then had the Board item use RESOURCE=LOGS instead of RESOURCE=WOOD
