Elve's die and change skin color

Post by stranf »

When my elf PC dies, his skin color changes to white. It dosen't go back to the original color upon resurrection.

Since this dosen't seem to effect my other PCs, this may be a very difficult bug to track.

As it dosen't seem too critical, I'd had for the DEV crew to waste spare time tracking it. In the meantime, is there a GM command that I can use to restore the skill color to the correct tone? This temporary fix would be sufficent for me, since I rarely use my Elf PC and when I do, he's rarely in a position to die.

Thanks,

stranf

Are you saying this doesn't happen to all other elf PCs, only yours - or that it happens only to elf PCs, and you only have one? :P

hmm... well, I have two elf NPCs, I guess I could kill my cook. She tends not to go out against ogres....if one is in the kitchen, she runs away screaming and logs out. Then stranf proceeds to slay it and clean up the mess.

I can't remember, but I seem to have had this issue before....I thought it was with my miner...(human) and not my elf. If that is the case, it would be impossible to track, since it is arbitrary.

I'll try and kill a different elf tonight....if it is all elves in general, it might be a an easy bug to find.

Sorry Xu,

Looks like it affects my human miner as well. Lucky for my, my main PC (and one who dies often) dosen't seem effected by this strange bug.

I don't really want people to waste time verifying it and trying to hunt it down...if it IS a real bug, others will post on it, then we can hunt it.

In the meantime, is there a GM function that we can use to change skin hues?

Or can we script one?

Ie: skin 4 (changes skin to hue #4 or something.) Have 1 be dark, 255 (or the max) be the lightest shade...

Try 'DYE 0x83EA -> 0x8422, those are skincolors.

Can you look up the worldfile entrys for those bugged chars? Especially the OriginalID tag would be of interest.

Also try it with newly created chars.

Will do. How do I get the tags for my PCs? Do I use Giwo's cool exporter..(haven't tried it yet)

I also have a few PCs that are "un-attached" to accounts. I'd like to get rid of them but the 'remove command from a GM can't get rid of 'em. hehehe

Easiest way is to use the exporter, export the characters that seem to be bugged, then open the export file and look for the tag Grimson mentioned.

This will save you from searching through all the files for your character.

Also, you can delete player characters with the 'DELETECHAR <target> command. Use with care. :P It requires a level 3 command privilege to use (admin only, in other words).
