When converting a house back to a deed...

Post by Fresshness »

(using UOX3 v0.98-3.6b and UOGateway 1.9.1265 and UO client v5.0.2c. being as specific as I can get here  )

so, when converting a house back to a deed, the following 'undesirable actions occur':
- all locked down items are on the ground, but they cannot be picked up (internally still being locked down IMHO). GM intervention is necessary.

- when you convert a house to a deed when the door is open, the door will remain in the world as the only testament to your domicile. GM intervention is necessary here too.

EDIT: both (open door and locked down items will decay after a while, so there is no real problem per defintion in my mind, since with decay, no GM intervention is required)

Ahh, ok, the locked down items are easy enough to fix (we already loop through them, just need to set them to being freely movable again).

As for the door, I'll have a look, it sounds like when we "open" the door (which is basically just changing the ID and re-positioning the item) it's getting moved outside the boundry of the house. This, obviously, is not a good thing, as it could cause other issues down the line.

Perhaps move the locked down items to the same level as the ground below them as well, at the same time as they are released (when the house is removed/redeeded, I mean)? Or will the remaining items block the placement of new houses even if they "float" above the ground?

I didn't quite understand the question there Xuri, however I will have it fix the Z of the items (and characters) left in a house when it is re-deeded.

Well, after a house is redeeded, the (previously) locked down items will remain floating at whichever Z they were locked down at in the house - and I was wondering if they blocked the placement of new houses in that area even if they weren't on the ground.

As it stands they likely would block the placement. I'm quite sure that with dynamics we don't even bother to look at the Z, we just check if they are located in a given x and y.

Of course they should only block if they are considered a "blocker".

Verified in 0.98-4.0. Any locked down items will remain locked down after the house has been converted to a deed, any open doors will not be removed along with the house.

A door that remains behind will block the placement of any new houses on that spot, but the locked down items that remain will not.
