Lumberjacking.....no skill gain.

Post by stranf »

3.6b

I was doing lumberjacking for a 5-10minute strech

Character's skill is 19.2.

No skill gain whatsoever, no stat gain either (that is understandable)

Here is my DEF entry for lumberjacking

Code: Select all

// Lumberjacking
[SKILL 44]
{
NAME=LUMBERJACKING
STR=200
DEX=0
INT=0
SKILLPOINT= 0,100,100
SKILLPOINT= 700,30,15
SKILLPOINT=800,15,0
SKILLPOINT=900,10,0
SKILLPOINT=990,5,0
SKILLPOINT=1000,0,0
}
So between 0 and 70 my PC should gain pretty quick.....

Any thoughts?

1) What UOX3 version were you using?
2) Are you certain your JS files are up to date (Lumberjacking is all in JS).
3) Did you produce any logs while chopping trees (The skill check is not done until the very end where it determines if you gain logs or not).

3.6b

Lumberjacking should be updated. (well axe.js is updated)

I'll doublecheck.

I was gaining logs, and since I was under 50 lumberjacking, theoretically I should gain skill quite rapidly.

I'll re-load those .js drivers and get back to you.

Ok, this was fixed when I updated to 3.6e.

However, my skills.dfn still has the line:

SKILLPOINT= 0,100,100
SKILLPOINT= 700,30,15

and my lumberjack gains .1 skill about every 4 successful hits, I guess for lumberjacking the skill gain is controled by the .js script instead of the skills.dfn.

Ah well, i tworks now, and this topic-post can be archived or deleted.

No, it should be controlled by that entry there. Based upon what I'm reading you should have a 100% chance of gaining .1 skill every time you chop a tree (notably while the animation will play multiple times it considers "chopping" to be each time you use an axe and target a tree).

agreed. I still do not gain on failed attempts, nor do I gain every time I use the axe.

and as far as I know, all of the required .dfns and .js are updated properly. Does anyone else have this issue if they edit their skills.dfn to allow for rapid advancement?
