Here we stuff all the bugs we've managed to squash/squish/squelch.

Tracking bug, please verify.

Post by stranf »

I'm playing with my cousin and noticed a bug while tracking.

Tracking for animals appears to be broken.

In an area with a lot of animals, such as cats, if you use tracking and select people,

it shows people. --> works

if you do creatures is says, "no creatures can be found" --> works no monsters

if you click animals it dosen't do anything.

Can anyone else verify?

Update: As soon as I left the animal-rich area, the tracking would work again. It appears that you can overflow the tracking gump and it won't display any results. It would be nice to have it default to the closest 10 or so creatures if it starts to overflow.

Confirmed.

I teleported to green acres ('go 5600 1200 0), built a small fenced in area - spawned 20 animals, and tried to use the tracking ability (set to 100.0). No menu appeared after I selected to track for 'Animals'. I removed one animal from the fenced in area so 19 remained, then tried tracking again. Works.

But! It's a feature, not a bug. The maximum amount of characters you can track is defined in the UOX.INI, and defaults to 20. (Check the MAXTARGETS value under [tracking]). The only real 'bug' is that if you set MAXTARGETS to 20 in the ini, you'll only be able to track 19 targets :P

Apart from that, all that's missing is a "Too many targets to keep track of!"-message to the player.

so I can increase it to 200 and it should work?

Also, I've noticed that you CAN NOT track PCs.

Is there anyway to make PC's trackable when using the person icon?

It should work when you increase the value, yes. Though why you'd ever want to track 200 animals, I don't know. :)

No idea why it doesn't work for players - are your players GMs, by any chance?

No, they aren't GMs. Not unless a specific class of GM can die!

I can only track NPC objects, I have yet to see a PC on our menu.

Yeah, there were definitely issues with tracking

Fixed:

1) You can now track PC's with the same command level as yourself.
2) The tracking gump will still populate if there are more than the maximum tracking targets nearby, however it will only display up to that number (set in uox.ini).
