I logged a char out on a boat at sea and re logged to find my char about half a boat length behind the boat (and offset) in the water. I know that boats are supposed to drift in UO but didn't know if this was implemented in UOX3. Anyway, usually your logged char would drift with the boat so I am assuming this is a bug. I tried on a boat at the docks and the same thing happened.
Also I cannot change the boat to a statue I have tried whilst in the boat and it ejects me to land telling me that the boat must be empty but when I try from shore it tells me I am too far away. Has the boat docking been implemented or is this a bug?

I think you have to drop anchor, no?
I remember that always being the case in OSI UO unless that's all change *logs into own shard*
Ok the anchor commands aren't working..but darn boats are fast lol.
So it looks like we should delve into the code (i'll do that monday lol) to see whats up with the boat commands these days.
So yeah it looks like boats will drift without the anchor in place.

Try it with a refresh rate of .25. Those our FAST boats (my players don't like long ship voyages!!)but darn boats are fast lol.
Anyway, is boat drifitng new? We use ships extensivley, as well as have "NPC controlled" ships in harbor and we have never experienced drift. (none of us knew about anchor commands either).
Is this another new command in the experimental update? I hope when you add that command functionality all boats will have their anchors down by default, or I'm going to lose a lot of ships!

On OSI, at least for as long as I can remember, there are the anchor commands.
Basically it's raise anchor to raise it, lower anchor to lower it which also keeps it from drifting.

So I guess then the only other plausible explanation is like what I used to do on OSI..find a boat thats not locked...go sailing, and leave it where it sits.

Could it be an ownership issue?
Most of my "homes" are placed by the administrator. I've noticed that when a PC has lost connection inside one of these buildings, they are placed outside the structure.
Could it be the same thing with the ship?
------------
On a side note with the boat code: is there anyway we could make it so when you double click on the plank -if you have the key- it opens and closes, similar to how locked doors work? It would be nicer than rummaging through the packs! Not an important request by any means, but a nice one for consistencies sake.

hi from my wii!
I imagine we could do a jscript for boats that checks pack for key then unlocks if present.
